An uninformed and uninspiring article, written by a person with no understanding about the differences that can be found between an education and school, and probably no interest in finding out. On an international scale.

I know I can't complain about every article I don't like (although I sometimes think that would be a useful occupation), but I'm putting this in my tucked away file because it shows the dominant mindset in which home educators must live.

It also reminds me how I'm going to lose if I set out with the agenda of challenging that mindset.

I'm still going to carry on doing it though.

'Schools are encouraged by the UK's top scientific body to bring cutting edge science into the classroom.'

'The vice-president of the Royal Society, Professor John Pethica, said: 'The Royal Society Partnership Grants scheme may be the first time that some of these pupils have had the opportunity to work with or even meet a practising scientist or engineer.''
